The Hood Sweeney Adelaide 36ers are delighted to learn that 3 players have been nominated for NBL awards this season. First year player Chris Molitor has been nominated for Rookie of the Year.
Nathan Herbert has been nominated in three categories, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved as well as 6th Man of the Year. SA born Jacob Holmes has also been nominated for the 6th Man of the Year award.
The 6th Man of the Year Award is given to the player who is deemed to be the best player in the league not consistently in their teams starting 5 group.
Both Herbert and Holmes brought different aspects to the 36ers bench this past season. Holmes hustle and desire saw him at one stage leading the NBL in rebounding while Herbert’s defensive tenacity and shooting skills saw him become more permanent in the starting group towards the back end of the season.
The NBL will announce the winners of the awards in Melbourne this Friday night.
