For the rest of Thursday and the days ahead Adelaide braces for a varied weather pattern according to the Bureau of Meteorology. The forecast for today indicates a maximum temperature of 28 degrees accompanied by showers. There is a significant likelihood of rain, with possible thunderstorms during the morning and afternoon. Winds are expected to shift from northerly to southwesterly as the day progresses.
Looking ahead, the weather on Friday will see a clearing trend with the minimum temperature starting at 17 degrees and reaching up to 27 degrees. The chance of rain is minimal, making it a more pleasant day overall. The weekend will usher in more stable conditions. Saturday promises full sunshine with temperatures ranging from 13 degrees to 27 degrees; similarly, Sunday will also be sunny, with temperatures slightly higher, between 14 degrees and 29 degrees.
The weather throughout the state of South Australia is influenced by a high pressure system from the Tasman Sea which brings a northerly airstream. A trough currently passing through the region, followed by a cold front, will clip the southeast today. By the end of the week, a weak ridge of high pressure is expected to establish more settled conditions.
Today, isolated showers and possible thunderstorms are forecasted across western and pastoral districts, extending across other areas as the day progresses. As the front moves through the region, residents can expect a shift in winds from northeast to northwesterly, then changing to a cooler south to southeasterly direction.
For Friday, light morning showers are predicted near windward coasts and ranges, with isolated showers continuing in the pastoral districts and possible thunderstorms in the north. Temperature variations across the state will see the south experiencing below average temperatures, while the north will be warmer.
The weekend will continue to experience isolated showers and thunderstorms in northern pastoral districts, although the south will remain dry. Southeast to easterly winds will persist throughout the weekend, increasing temporarily near coastal areas.
Cumulative rainfall totals by the end of Sunday are expected to remain generally low, with less than 5 mm across most areas but could range from 2 to 10 mm in agricultural regions. Areas affected by thunderstorms in the northwest might see up to 40 mm of rainfall.
The early part of next week will see a continuation of isolated showers and potential thunderstorms in the north, while most other regions will remain dry. Temperatures will range from average to above average, with a noticeable drop to below average in the southeast by Wednesday.
