Adelaide Airport has once again garnered the top spot as the Best Regional Airport in the Australia and Pacific region at the Skytrax World Airport Awards, held this year in Madrid. This marks the third time in four years that the airport has secured this prestigious accolade, with wins in 2022 and 2024. The airport also received recognition as the cleanest airport in the region.
Competing against others like Christchurch and Gold Coast airports, Adelaide has repeatedly proven its excellence in serving both domestic and a select number of intercontinental routes. Unlike the much bigger airports around the globe, regional airports like Adelaide handle millions of passengers annually, focusing on efficient and high-quality service.
The significance of this award places Adelaide Airport alongside other global regional winners of the year, including La Guardia in New York, Nagoya, and Durban, indicating its world-class status in airport service and management.
Brenton Cox, Managing Director of Adelaide Airport shared, “We’re excited to again receive this global award and it is a testament to the hard work of our team and our stakeholders who have supported us over the past year.
“Our passenger numbers have now exceeded pre-pandemic levels and we’re in the middle of our busiest week on record.
“We’re also embarking on $600 million in infrastructure works to further improve our terminal and other facilities to help ensure a seamless journey for our customers. Upcoming improvements include more check-in space, more gates and improved security systems for passenger and baggage screening for the safety and security of our customers.”
Adelaide’s international connectivity is continuing to expand, with announcements of new routes by United Airlines from San Francisco set to commence in December, and Indonesia AirAsia starting a new service to Bali in June.
The Skytrax World Airport Awards are determined through a comprehensive eight-month survey involving feedback from international airport customers across various categories. These include check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration, and departure processes. The input from over 100 nationalities provides a broad perspective on customer experience at global airports.
Adelaide Airport’s repeated success at the Skytrax Awards highlights its ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards of customer service and operational efficiency. The continuous improvements and expansions are expected to further elevate the travel experience for its customers, making Adelaide Airport a preferable choice for many travelers in the region.
