Activities throughout the afternoon will include whip cracking, thong tossing and Australian poetry reading. Guests are welcome to bring along an Aussie bush picnic to share with friends under the towering candlebark gums, as they tap their toes to bush music throughout the afternoon.

The 'Australia' art exhibition by local hills artist Hilary Brookes will be officially opened at 2pm, and will be on display in the Rubida Room every weekend from 26 January to 18 March 2012 between 12 & 4pm. Local artist Hilary Brookes lived in the hills as a teenager and returned with her family to live at Norton Summit five years ago. Hilary's art has blossomed since moving to the picturesque Adelaide Hills. Finding inspiration in her natural surroundings and the native fauna which abounds in the area, Hilary has developed and focused her talent in bringing to life some of the lesser known native locals. Through this impressive body of work, Hilary engages the viewer with the beauty and character of her subject.

Don’t forget to bring along a picnic and your favourite Aussie poem to share. It’s going to be a fabulous afternoon!
