Adelaide-born Drew Villani has already made an impressive career for himself in the global fashion industry. His signature mark of relentless creativity, strategic vision, and an unwavering work ethic has led to an unbelievable fashion career that blossomed from humble beginnings in Adelaide. Villani’s journey from South Australia to the bustling streets of New York City underscores a rise towards an extraordinary new role as Global Creative Director at iconic brand Timberland.

Villani’s tenure as Artistic Director at 3.1 Phillip Lim from 2017 to 2018 proved his talent for innovative storytelling through fashion. Since 2021, he has taken on the role of Senior Director of Global Creative for Calvin Klein, further solidifying his reputation as a creative force to be reckoned with.

Through creative direction at 3.1 Phillip Lim and Calvin Klein, Villani has maintained a focus on chic, understated luxury, matching his career direction of working with premium and luxury brands through image and identity.

Timberland, known for the iconic suede boots, goes much deeper into the fashion world, while retaining a rugged, adventurous brand personality. The label doesn’t shy away from its archetypal Timbs silhouette, though, with its AW24 campaign simply sharing the tagline, “iconic.” It pairs this with sleek black and white editorial photos depicting global icons wearing nothing but a pair of Timberlands. Iconic indeed. Now we just have to wait and see which bold new direction Villani will take the brand.

Villani has previously shared that New York City serves as both his workplace and his muse. Living there with his wife, fellow Adelaidean and creative powerhouse Tania de Bono, Villani thrives in an environment where art, culture, and fashion collide in a big way.

Together, Villani and de Bono own creative direction studio HORSE, which has worked with clients including Estee Lauder, Calvin Klein, Nike, L’OREAL Paris, and plenty more big names.

Despite his global success, Villani remains connected to his Aussie roots. His story is a testament to the worldwide reach of SA talent and a reminder that big dreams can take you anywhere. With a sharp eye for detail and an unparalleled work ethic, Villani continues to shape the future of fashion while staying true to the principles that have guided his impressive career.
