At Loaded Corner Cafe, the matcha tasting flight is more than just a drink thing, it’s a colourful journey for your taste buds!
According to Emma, one of the cafe’s owners, the inspiration behind this unique offering came from a simple observation, “We noticed that our customers were having trouble choosing between our range of matcha flavours.”
“So we wanted to provide a unique and fun experience where friends and families could enjoy a range of matcha in an approachable format. Plus, it looks really sexy!”
And it certainly does. The flight, a beautiful arrangement of colourful drinks, is as visually stunning as it is delicious.
But it’s not just about looking good. Emma and her team have gone to great lengths to ensure that every aspect of the tasting is thoughtfully designed.
“All of our flavourings are made in-house with natural ingredients, and we provide our customers with the choice of which options they’d like to try,” she shares.
“We can even adjust individual elements like sweetness and matcha grades to accommodate everyone’s tastes.”

Quality is key, and that’s why Loaded Corner Cafe sources its matcha from the famous tea-growing region of Uji, Kyoto.
“After sampling many suppliers, we settled on one who sources 100% of their product from authentic Japanese farms,” Emma explains.
“We look for matcha that has a bright, vibrant green colour with an extremely fine texture and a well-balanced flavour of sweetness and umami.”
Emma is particularly firm on avoiding lower-quality matcha that has a dull colour or an overly astringent taste.
“God forbid using a pre-sweetened matcha mixture,” she adds with a chuckle.
“Any seasoned matcha drinker can pick that out instantly.”
The development of the tasting flight was no small feat. Emma and her team spent time researching, testing, and refining the matcha combinations before launching.

“We started with some market research to discover what was popular, followed by matching matcha with different flavour profiles,” she says.
“We tested the combinations, refined our recipes and presentation, and launched the idea with a few loyal customers. Based on their feedback, we tweaked things until we got it just right.”
One of the things that sets this tasting flight apart is the variety and customisation it offers.
“Although we’re always happy to let customers choose their own, we can recommend a well-balanced combination of flavours,” Emma says.
“For example, a classic ceremonial matcha, Earl Grey matcha, blueberry, and Dubai chocolate matcha would offer a combination of flavour variety and an educational experience regarding different quality matcha.”
Customer reactions to the matcha tasting flight have been overwhelmingly positive.
“People love it! It not only looks spectacular, but it’s rare to try four different drinks over lunch or brunch,” Emma says.
“It’s something people are still getting used to, and we’re grateful to introduce them to it.”
Of course, with any trendy new offering comes the need to educate.
“People don’t realise there’s caffeine in matcha or that it’s actually better for you than coffee,” Emma points out. “So it’s a great change from your daily grind.”
Looking to the future, Emma sees the matcha tasting flight as part of a larger trend.
“With the cost of living like it is at the moment, people can’t always afford to sample as much as they would like to,” she says.
“A flight is a great and affordable way to have a varied and exciting experience without breaking the bank.”
The matcha tasting flight at Loaded Corner Cafe isn’t just a drink—it’s a playful, affordable way to explore a range of flavours and textures, all while learning about matcha in a fun and approachable way.
Whether you’re a matcha enthusiast or a newcomer, there’s no better way to enjoy a little variety in your life.
