Adelaide Central Market Authority Appoints New CEO

Adelaide Central MarketThe Adelaide Central Market Authority (ACMA) has appointed Claude Baxter as its new Chief Executive.

Baxter comes to the ACMA with extensive Market experience having transformed the South Melbourne Markets into an industry leader where he was CEO for a four-year period.

ACMA Chair, Judy Potter said Baxter will bring high-level industry experience to the Authority and would provide the necessary leadership and strategic vision to take the Adelaide Central Market forward in a clear and decisive manner.

“We are thrilled to welcome Claude as the new CEO of the Authority. He brings an amazing set of skills to the table and we are excited to see his direct knowledge and experience of the industry put into practice.” Ms Potter said.

“We received a large number of very impressive applicants which is testament to the interest of this Adelaide icon. We narrowed the search down, chose the right people who were all put through a rigorous interview process.”

Baxter boasts an impressive resume, responsible for the overhaul and revitalisation of the South Melbourne Market where he significantly increased all revenue streams and patronage.

Baxter said he intends to implement innovative and effective strategies to ensure the Market remains an Australian institution for years to come.

“I am truly excited about the challenge that lies ahead of me. The Adelaide Central Market is such an integral piece of the Adelaide jigsaw and I by no means take this fact lightly,” Mr Baxter said.

“I am innately aware that the Market is a community of people, traders, artisans and shoppers all who play a vital part of making this one of the greatest Markets in the world.

“Balancing the vibrancy, diversity and quality of product and produce while ensuring the Market remains commercially sustainable is something I am very much looking forward to.”

Baxter will officially commence in the role on June 17.
