Adelaide Central Market finally introduces trolleys, but you need to know where to find them

Adelaide Central Market’s new trolley is giving us life! But you need to know where to find them. It’s just another new thing on offer at the foodie mecca.

The Adelaide Central Market has introduced an innovative convenience for shoppers with the launch of their new trolley hire service. Available every market day, customers can use double decker Market trolleys for up to two hours, ensuring a hassle-free shopping experience. The service requires a $20 deposit, which is fully refundable, allowing shoppers to navigate the market’s bustling aisles with ease.

Located at the Gouger Street end, near Haigh’s, the Market Stall acts as the central hub for all market-related enquiries. It is also the pick-up point for the free trolley service. Staff at the Market Stall are equipped to assist with information, handle questions, and manage bookings for school holiday events. They also offer gift vouchers, merchandise, and activities for children like colouring with eco crayons.

The Adelaide Central Market, a vital part of the city’s culture, houses over 70 traders and is one of the largest undercover fresh produce markets in the Southern Hemisphere. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and cultural diversity, the market also features some of Adelaide’s favourite cafes and eateries, cementing its reputation as Adelaide’s premier food destination.

The Market also welcomes visitors to its ‘Producer in Residence’ program, a platform for emerging local food producers to engage directly with the public. Located at the North West corner near Grote Street and next to O’Connell’s Meats, the stand rotates its occupants on a regular basis. Poderosa, the latest producer in residence, will be showcasing their products until the end of June. This venture, started by two Colombians, highlights their national dish, the Arepa, which embodies simplicity and cultural significance. ‘Poderosa’ means ‘powerful’ in Spanish, an apt description for their impactful flavour profiles.

Despite ongoing projects like the Market Square and Market Expansion, the Adelaide Central Market will maintain its usual trading hours from Tuesday to Saturday.
