Adelaide Central Market Launches Drive-Through Service

Fresh fruit and vegetables, pantry staples like bread, eggs, flour, pasta and milk, take-home meals and a range of specialty items including cheese, olive oil, meats and seafood are all available for drive-through collection.

South Australians can now shop for fresh market produce and specialty goods without having to leave the car.

The Adelaide Central Market Authority has launched a pre-order and collect drive-through service that will supplement a range of purchase options being offered by a number of traders, including home delivery, in-store takeaway and pre-orders by email and phone, so customers can shop their essentials during COVID-19.

Starting this week, the new service will be available every Tuesday and Friday from 2pm until 6pm.

This week’s collection days will be Tuesday 7 and Thursday 9 April, due to the Good Friday public holiday.

Fresh fruit and vegetables, pantry staples like bread, eggs, flour, pasta and milk, take-home meals and a range of specialty items including cheese, olive oil, meats and seafood are all available for drive-through collection.

People can also order ahead and pick-up their Easter essentials before the long weekend.

To place an order, all customers need to do is contact the trader direct, confirm their details and advise a pick-up time during the designated collection hours. Multiple orders can be placed directly through individual traders, which will be grouped together for pick-up.

Orders can be placed at any time, including same day collection with a cut off time of 11:00am.

The Market’s drive-through zone is located on Gouger Street in front of Zuma Caffe and Marino Meats Food Store. A team of staff will be on-hand on collection days to pick-up orders and deliver them direct to vehicles.

“As we all adjust to a new way of living and working as a result of the coronavirus, we understand that people may not be able to make it out of the house, or shop as they normally would,” says Adelaide Central Market General Manager Jodie Kannane.

“The Adelaide Central Market is pleased to provide a new pre-order and collect drive-through option that will further support the range of purchase options now being offered by many of our traders, so shoppers can buy their fresh local produce and essentials during this time.

“Customers will be now able to shop for all their weekly essentials without having to leave the car. Best of all, they will be supporting our local traders and the extensive network of small businesses who supply the Market, in what has been a very challenging start to the year for small businesses.

“This week in particular is a great opportunity for families to shop their Easter goodies and essentials ahead of the long weekend.”

The Adelaide Central Market continues to trade as usual from Tuesday – Saturday, with extra health and safety precautions in place to protect the Market community.

The Adelaide Central Market’s new drive-through service starts on Tuesday 7 April.
