Adelaide Central Market’s Seafood + Sounds is back by popular demand this month

Popular Seafood + Sounds event is back on at the Adelaide Central Market for two days in October.

South Australia’s Seafood + Sounds festival is back on at the Adelaide Central Market this month. Back by popular demand, this annual event promises two days of live music, fresh seafood, and good vibes.

This year’s Seafood + Sounds festival on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th of October will be a seafood lover’s paradise. There will be street eats and seafood specials offered by the Market’s traders, accompanied by live music, cooking demonstrations by some of South Australia’s top chefs, a popup oyster bar, and the ever-popular Chilli Crab Shack.

A new addition to Seafood + Sounds this year is the SiSea x Golding Oyster Bar. SiSea, the Market’s flamed grill and tapas eatery, will run a pop-up oyster bar, where you can savour fresh Coffin Bay oysters and Golding Wines. SiSea’s specialty dishes, including Eyre Peninsula wok-fried mussels, tempura prawns, and the classic SA Prawn Cocktail, are also on the menu.

“The Adelaide Central Market is home to South Australia’s world-class seafood offer – there’s no better place to shop and dine in one place,” SiSea owner Mark Gleeson said.

Adelaide Central Market Authority General Manager Fabienne Reilly said past Seafood + Sounds events have been a huge success, showcasing South Australia’s world class range of seafood to Market shoppers.

“Seafood + Sounds is a highlight of our events calendar, showcasing outstanding local produce, passionate traders and a vibrant Market community found nowhere else. Events like this continue to show the diversity of our Market and strengthen the connections between our customers and our traders.”

For those looking to hone their culinary skills, Restaurant Botanic Executive Chef Justin James and Tasting Australia Co-Festival Director and Co-Owner and Chef of The Salopian Inn, Karena Armstrong, alongside Mandy Hall, will conduct cooking demonstrations.

A beloved feature of Seafood + Sounds, the two-day-only Chilli Crab Shack by Sprout, is making a return this year as well. Visitors can indulge in mouthwatering Asian-style chilli crab using local Market produce and fresh SA blue swimmer crabs.

Armed with an oversized crab bib, guests are encouraged to dig in, get messy, enjoy local gin, live music, and soak in the Market vibes. Be sure to secure your spot as this popular attraction sells out every year.

Market traders are joining the celebration with a range of special offerings available throughout the two-day event. Think Seafood Laksa, Octopus Pizza, Poke Bowls, and Spaghetti Vongole.

Entertainment will be by local musicians Jazz in Cheek, the Atlantic Street Band, Brian Ruiz, Melange a Troi, and Lenin Marron Duo.

For the younger festivalgoers, there’s a free sea creatures art workshop by Little Picassos and free sea face painting on Saturday morning.

More details about the the ultimate seafood weekend in the CBD will be released shortly.
