This afternoon, the Adelaide City Council released an update, confirming that their New Year’s Eve activations across Adelaide’s CBD will be going ahead.
They said “Whether it’s a special midnight moment, outdoor dining experiences or a family festival, there’s something for everyone in the city this New Year’s Eve.”
The family friendly festival “Light Up” presented by Gluttony is sold out, with a capacity crowd of 5000 purchasing tickets to the new outdoor event in Rymill Park / Murlawirrapurka, which adheres to Covid Restrictions. It will feature live music, roving performers and interactive displays as well as two lighting and pyrotechnic shows at 9:30pm and midnight
There will be four new “Midnight Moments” spread across the city and North Adelaide, with each having its own individual experience featuring live music.
• East End Street Party
• Jerningham Street Party
• Eleven off Waymouth Street
• Sparkke at the Whitmore
The City of Adelaide continues to work with SA Health and organisers to ensure everyone’s safety, designing the new format to comply with current Covid-19 restrictions. The City of Adelaide have asked everyone to pre-book their tickets or table at participating venues or restaurants and avoid gathering in large groups.
People will not be required to be vaccinated to attend “Light Up” presented by Gluttony but all staff and patrons over the age of 12 will be required to wear masks when standing and moving around the event.
City of Adelaide Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor says the new model will create exciting ways for people to ring in the new year, whilst remaining Covid safe.
“Given the last couple of years, I think it’s important people can celebrate so we are asking everyone to be prepared, plan your night, book your tickets and be mindful of social distancing,” said the Lord Mayor.
“This is a different way of celebrating the new year but we believe the variety on offer will allow for more people to pick their own adventure in the city.
“I can’t wait to check out some of the new Midnight Moments across the city and visit the family festival, “Light Up” presented by the incredible team at Gluttony, who always know how to put on a good show in Rymill Park / Murlawirrapurka.”
To help people plan their night, UPark will be offering $4 flat rate parking for customers who pre-book at Rundle, Frome and Topham UParks.
The vast array of New Year’s Eve festivities would not be possible without the generous support of HomeStart Finance. This is the third straight year they will be our Community Partner for New Year’s Eve and the City of Adelaide thank them for their support.
