Adelaide clinic helps women navigate perimenopause with a whole-body approach to health

Award-winning Enhance Skin Cosmetic Clinic is expanding the conversation around women’s health, offering holistic support for skin, hair and hormonal wellbeing while hosting a free Adelaide event to help women better understand perimenopause and menopause.

For many Australian women, the changes that come with perimenopause and menopause can feel like they happen overnight. Whether it’s that your skin has become drier and your hair started thinning, or your energy levels drop and your confidence took a hit, one Adelaide clinic is saying that these symptoms shouldn’t be treated in isolation.

Enhance Skin Cosmetic Clinic, with locations in Largs Bay and Norwood, is taking a holistic approach to women’s health, helping women understand the connection between hormonal changes, skin, hair and emotional wellbeing during midlife.

Founded by registered nurse Petta Day, who was named South Australia’s Best Cosmetic Nurse by The Advertiser in both 2023 and 2024, the clinic has built its reputation on personalised care backed by clinical expertise. Since opening its Largs Bay clinic in 2020 and expanding to Norwood in 2024, Enhance has continued to evolve beyond traditional skin treatments, most recently launching the Women’s Hormonal Health Clinic to address the broader impacts of hormonal health.

Rather than focusing on a single concern, the clinic supports women experiencing the physical and emotional changes that often accompany perimenopause and menopause.

“We expanded our offerings at Enhance to include Women’s Health because a woman’s skin, hair, hormones, and her emotional wellbeing are all connected,” shared Petta. “It’s not just about appearance, it’s about how she feels in herself.”

The approach comes at a time when awareness is growing around menopause education. Research from Jean Hailes shows one in four Australian women aged between 45 and 64 say menopausal symptoms make everyday life more difficult, while other studies suggest many women enter this stage of life without fully understanding the changes taking place.

“Women often come to us feeling confused by what’s happening to their bodies and not always feeling heard,” said Petta. “A loving, informed approach can make a real difference. When women understand that these changes are normal and connected, it can be incredibly empowering.”

To continue that conversation outside of the clinic, Enhance is hosting a free community education session later this month.

Thriving Through Change will be held at the Port Adelaide Public Library on Friday, July 24th from 10am to 11am, offering practical information about perimenopause, menopause, skin, hair and hormonal wellbeing in a welcoming environment. The session is limited to 35 people, with bookings available through Eventbrite.

“Women come through our doors unsure if what they’re feeling is ‘normal’. This free event gives them clear information about hormonal changes, the services we offer to assist in this transition, and a chance to connect with other women experiencing the same transition.”

For women seeking more personalised support, Enhance also offers dedicated consultations with both a doctor and a nurse to help develop an individual care plan.

“Many women have already spent money trying to find answers, only to feel dismissed,” said Petta. “Our one-hour consultation includes dedicated time with both a doctor and nurse, plus ongoing support, and for many women, that level of care is worth far more than what they’ve previously paid just to feel unheard.”

Looking to the future, Petta hopes to broaden the clinic’s focus to support younger women living with hormonal conditions such as PCOS and endometriosis.

“In the near future, we want to expand our focus to support younger women living with PCOS and endometriosis as well, because hormonal health challenges don’t begin at midlife. We want to be more inclusive across different ages and stages of a woman’s life.”

With dedicated hormone-focused care still limited across Adelaide’s western suburbs, Enhance hopes its growing services and community education events will help more women feel informed, supported and confident through every stage of life.
