Cristina’s label, couture+love+madness, showcases the art of couture with exotic silks, hand beading, sequins and applique as defining features.
Following on from a South Australian delegation to sister city Qingdao (Shandong Provence, China) in 2014, couture+love+madness was invited to officially open the 2015 Qingdao International Fashion Festival, now in its 15th year.
On Friday 24 April, couture+love+madness showcased alongside 3 well-known Chinese designers at the Qingdao Exhibition Centre and was the first Australian designer to be asked to participate in this 5-day International Festival.
couture+love+madness opened the Fashion Festival with AW15 collection ‘Silk Road’, a fusion between Australian and Chinese cultures.
couture+love+madness also then opened day 4 of the Festival with a runway show at The Lalu, Qingdao; a six star luxury resort that overlooks the coast of Qingdao. As the first of five shows for the day, couture+love+madness showcased Silk Road as well as SS14 Collection, ‘Bold & The Beautiful’ which was a mix of bold colour and florals in silks and Australian Wools. For the finale of both shows, twin international models Xiaoting and Xioqian Wang (who have walked for Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks) sported Australian wool pieces, much to the excitement of VIPs and fashion students.
Cristina said ‘It was such an exciting opportunity to showcase amongst so many talented Chinese designers, the calibre of fashion and design in China is astounding. The reviews from both shows have been overwhelmingly positive and I look forward to continuing my relationship with Qingdao and showing at next year’s Fashion Festival.’
