Adelaide Designer Becomes A Global ‘Young Gun’

Kellie B&WAn Adelaide-based graphic designer is the only Australian to win a highly coveted and prestigious design award at the international Art Directors Club (ADC) Young Guns competition held in New York.

Kellie Campbell, a senior designer from Parallax Design, has won a place among the world’s top 50 Young Guns and will collect her award in a ceremony in New York in October.

The Young Guns competition represents the global rising stars in the design field and is the only integrated media competition of its kind. Applicants must be under 30 years of age with more than two years of professional experience to enter.

Kellie, who has a number of local and national design awards to her name, said she is excited about having her work recognised internationally.

“It’s a fabulous honour for Parallax and our clients – and of course for me personally – to see our work recognised on this global stage,” Kellie said.

“I’m looking forward to attending the exhibition in New York, there will be some really exciting and innovative work on show.
“It’s also a great way to meet other creatives from a variety of disciplines from all over the world and to be recognised as one of them,” Kellie said.

Kellie will receive the iconic ADC Young Guns cube and her work will appear in the limited edition Young Guns 8 Annual, a publication that highlights 2010’s outstanding entries. The exhibition at New York’s ADC Gallery will be on display for a month before commencing a tour of the United States.

Some of her work which will be displayed includes a branding project for CW Robinson’s accident repair centre, wine labels for boutique wine brands Tilly Devine and Henry’s Drive as well as an innovative invitation for Parallax Design’s own studio warming event.

Parallax Design General Manager, Leanne Vine, said Kellie has produced many outstanding designs over the years and the Young Guns win is a credit to her hard work.

“For the seven years-plus that Kellie has been with Parallax, she has produced or contributed to some of our best work. Being nominated as one of the world’s best “Young Guns” is a fantastic personal and professional achievement. The entire team is thrilled with the news; we’re all extremely proud of her,” she said.

The win tops off a great year for the firm, who were recently one of only three Australians named ‘In- Book’ at the prestigious Designers and Art Director’s awards (D&AD) in London. They also won two awards at the Adelaide Advertising and Design Club (AADC) in March, for Bleasdale’s Double Take wine label.

Parallax Design is an Adelaide based graphic design agency established in 2001. The firm works across a multitude of sectors, providing graphic design services to clients in South Australia, interstate and overseas.
