South Australia’s Million Paws Walk will return to the Adelaide Botanic Garden this Sunday for dog lovers. The popular national event is celebrating its 30th anniversary and is expected to draw over 2000 participants in support of animal welfare.
The Million Paws Walk is expected to be a great day out for pet owners and their furry companions. With tickets available for purchase, participants can look forward to an event filled with activities centred around dogs and their well-being.
Walkers have the option to begin their stroll from six different start times, ranging from 9:00am to 11:30am, and they can also choose between a 2.3km or a 3.5km path.
Following their journey, participants can relax and indulge in the “Million Paws Walk Village” located within the Botanic Park adjacent to the Adelaide Botanic Garden. This hub will host a variety of stalls offering food, beverages, pet-focused services, and merchandise.
Adding to the spirit, there will be live dog training demonstrations. Experts from the RSPCA SA’s animal behaviour team will also be there, offering valuable advice and tips to pet owners.
This year marks the third time RSPCA South Australia has hosted its main fundraising event inside the Adelaide Botanic Garden. The event coincides with Botanic Gardens Day, symbolising a united celebration across Australia and New Zealand of botanical conservation efforts.
“The current forecast is for sunshine and a maximum temperature of 21, perfect conditions for taking in the Garden’s autumn splendour with our dogs,” RSPCA SA CEO, Marcus Gehrig, said.
“I encourage anyone who wants to be part of this very special day to go online, buy a ticket and start fundraising to support the animals in our care right now.”
With 650 animals currently under the care of RSPCA SA, including almost 200 at the new O’Halloran Hill facility and 60% with volunteer foster carers, the success of the Million Paws Walk is important for funding and support.
To participate in the Million Paws Walk and aid in fundraising efforts for animals in need while enjoying a day of outdoor fun and canine camaraderie, participants can register and set up their contribution pages online.
