Dolphin lovers, we have some good news!

Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary’s beloved Doc has made a (very unexpected!) recovery after an illness.

The resident dolphin became sick late last year, and at first, it looked like there was no hope of getting better. Ironically “Doc” was thought to be incurable by doctors.

“Rangers consulted expert vets throughout this time, who advised against medical intervention and that little could be done to assist the dolphin, other than to monitor his condition,” National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia shares.

However now, the little dolphin seems to be in good health and spirits.

“Some months on, we are pleased to inform that his health appears to be continually improving.”

They report that Doc has gained a lot of weight, and he has once again begun socialising with other dolphins. These are great signs, and it appears to be somewhat of a miracle recovery, especially because nobody is sure why he was ill in the first place.

“We don’t know what caused Doc to become sick, but his recovery demonstrates the resilience of our local dolphins,” the service writes.

We hope Doc stays well and has no reason to ever to go to other docs again!
