Adelaide Equestrian Festival launches with world class riders and free family entertainment

The Adelaide Equestrian Festival returns, expecting over 30,000 spectators for a unqiue four-day showcase in the heart of the city.

The much-anticipated Adelaide Equestrian Festival kicks off today, ready to bring four days of exhilarating horse riding competitions to the city. This festival will be held in the Adelaide Park Lands and is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Expected to draw over 30,000 spectators from around the globe, this is a huge event on the local Equestrian calendar.

This year, more than 70 elite equestrian athletes and their horses will compete across a range of disciplines, including Dressage, Cross Country, and Show Jumping. The festival is recognised for being the only 5-Star equestrian event in the Southern Hemisphere and uniquely takes place in the heart of a major city, differentiating it from other horse trials worldwide.

The event is officially starting with a free Community Day thanks to ResourceCo. The schedule will continue with Dressage courtesy of Pryde’s Easifeed on Friday, followed by RB Sellars’ sponsored Cross Country on Saturday, and finishing in the ATCO Show Jumping on Sunday.

Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison MP shared, “Elite equestrian athletes and spectators from all over the world, will experience the only 5-star equestrian event in the southern hemisphere right in the heart of our boutique city.

“I am proud to support the Adelaide Equestrian Festival, which showcases why South Australia is a leading events destination, while bringing tens of thousands of visitors to our city to help boost visitation for our local businesses.”

Greg Rolton from the Adelaide Equestrian Festival also shared, “We welcomed more than 30,000 spectators to Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi in 2024 and we anticipate this number to grow as the sport of eventing continues to gain momentum following a successful performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

“While the LA 2028 Olympics and 2032 home soil Brisbane Olympics may seem like a long way away, it is at this point that our experienced and rising Australian equestrian athletes are already in training and preparing in order to be considered for the Australian team.”

Aside from the competitive action, the festival will be a family-friendly event. Attendees can look forward to live music, children’s activities, and a range of food and beverage options, making it a complete entertainment experience for all ages.

Tickets for the Adelaide Equestrian Festival are available online, allowing fans of equestrian sports to witness top-tier athletes in action. With its longstanding heritage and prestigious status, this event continues to be a highlight within South Australia’s festival scene.
