South Australian-born fashion label Modi The Label was only created in 2024 and, while still in its infancy, has had its first taste of global success by hitting the New York runway earlier this year at New York Fashion Week. With clothing pieces that feature high quality fabrics that flatter the figure and don’t break the budget, Modi The Label aims to take the working woman from “day to dusk” or “desk to dinner”.

The mastermind behind the label, Suzie Coffin, says the brand is all about creating modern, refined fashion that offers versatility for consumers, and is all designed in Australia. “The idea behind the brand is getting more wear out of your wardrobe, with pieces that can be styled in different ways and worn across multiple occasions,” says Suzie.

“Anyone can create a nice piece, but we focus on how that piece fits into someone’s life and how often they can actually wear it,” she says.

“Our customer is busy, style-conscious, and wants to feel put-together without overthinking her outfit…The aesthetic is clean, feminine and refined, with a strong focus on silhouette, fabric, and wearability.”

The inspiration for the label came from Suzie’s own background in the corporate world, where she regularly faced the frustrations of needing outfit changes between work, dinners and events, so Modi The Label was created as a solution to the problem.

Although not from a traditional fashion background, the first-time business owner is working alongside an experienced design team, and has paved her way to global success in less than two years since launching the label.

No stranger to big events, Modi The Label had previously been involved in Adelaide Fashion Week in both 2024 and 2025, but according to Suzie, hitting the world stage was a vastly different experience that marked a major milestone for the brand and is already opening more doors.

“Being surrounded by a global audience and industry on that scale really shifted our perspective and made us think bigger about the future of the brand,” says Suzie. “It opened up new opportunities for the brand and made us think bigger about where we are heading.”

There are big things on the horizon for Modi The Label, with Suzie and her talented design and marketing team currently working on their SS27 collection, exploring new fabrics and styles that are thoughtfully created and cater to a diverse group of women from all ages, which are both functional and fashion forward.
