Adelaide Fashion Festival Reveals Incredible Program

Two solo shows from world renown designer Paolo Sebastian, including an exclusive launch of his latest collection, are just the tip of a tantalizing program revealed for the 2016 Adelaide Fashion Festival.

Adelaide Fashion Festival presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide launched its 2016 campaign this evening with a stunning catwalk event at the SAHMRI on North Terrace by local label Acler revealing their 16/17 Spring/Summer collection.

We’ll have more on that event soon. For now though, we want to focus upon some of the other incredible announcements unveiled on the night for the 2016 Festival, which will celebrate the world-class work of South Australian designers and labels across 10 runways and 20 events from 19-23 October.

The program launch is headlined by the news that high profile couture label Paolo Sebastian is the only brand to present solo, and will do so through two different runway events. To begin, Adelaide will be treated to his recently launched 2016/17 Autumn/Winter Couture Collection as shown in Paris, before the exclusive launch of the 2016/17 Spring/Summer Collection. The eyes of the world will be watching, and no doubt designer Paul Vasileff is ready to deliver the goods.

“Paolo Sebastian is quickly gaining international attention and launching his Gilded Wings collection in Paris has taken his profile to the next level,” said Adelaide Fashion Festival creative director Chris Kontos. “Adelaide Fashion Festival presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide is very fortunate to show not one but two Paolo Sebastian collections. To see the couture work and attention to detail from Paul in person is an experience beyond words.”

Other designers returning to the Adelaide Fashion Festival runway include Liza Emanuele, Alexis George, Jaimie Sortino, Greta-Kate and Lexi while others will make their debut, including Milliner Sylvy Earl, Stephanie Chehade, STONE and Eliza French. Adelaide-born international stylist Nicole Bonython-Hines will also return to style several runway shows in 2016, and will this year be joined by Vogue fashion editor Philippa Moroney and Adelaide creative Mia Gambranis.

Each runway will present a different perspective on fashion, from contemporary classics to cool ready-to-wear looks.

“It’s exciting to see some of the icons of the South Australian fashion scene showing one moment, and emerging talent storming the runway the next,” Chris said. “We have such diversity within our band of local designers, but there are many who have complimentary aesthetics. By matching them together and having world-renowned stylists bring the looks to life, we will certainly present runway shows unlike anything ever seen in Adelaide.”

Fashion lovers, industry and event enthusiasts will certainly be satisfied by the collaborative runways as well, which will include Australian Fashion Labels presenting new season styles from C/MEO Collective, Finders, The Fifth, Keepsake and JAGGAR at their Victorian Square hub. Equally eye catching will be the new guard of contemporary women’s fashion runway with Acler, Naomi Murrell, Elizabeth V and TDE accessories.

Here’s a quick rundown of the highlights from last night’s announcements:
