Adelaide Festival Centre’s ‘Something on Saturday’

Adelaide Festival Centre and National Pharmacies proudly announce the much anticipated 2012 Something on Saturday season, which this year celebrates turning 35 years young. The program runs every Saturday from 5 May to 8 September.

The Adelaide Festival Centre’s Something on Saturday program continues to delight and entertain more than 15,000 people every year, with many South Australian children aged 3 to 10 enjoying their first theatrical experience through the program.

The 2012 program is as big as ever and covers everything from live music, acrobatics, clowning, storytelling, magic, ballet, drumming, contemporary dance, percussion, mime, comedy, science, puppetry, circus skills, orchestral music and musical theatre. Kids are encouraged to sing, dance and have fun as some old favourites return to perform again, in addition to a selection of some of New Zealand, the UK’s and Australia’s finest children’s artists.

Tickets are on sale March 6 to subscribers who purchase tickets to four or more shows, and tickets go on sale to the general public on 30 March. Performances are expected to sell out, so patrons are encouraged to book quickly to avoid disappointment.

To kick-start this year’s Something on Saturday season with a bang, see the Adelaide premiere performance of Lah Lah’s Musical Wonderland on 5 May at11am and 1pm in the Banquet Room. Fabulous Lah Lah and her big live band will have the kids grinning and shimmying, featuring Tom Tom, Mister Saxophone, Squeezy Sneezy the accordion and Lola the dancing double bass.

The Foundation Kids Corner popular craft workshops will remain a mainstay thanks to the Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation, which is committed to inspiring and stimulating young people with a great selection of fun activities each week, and best of all they’re FREE!

Tickets are just $10 per person when purchasing tickets to four or more Something on Saturday performances (plus a $6.60 handling fee per booking, not per ticket), and single tickets are $13 per person (inclusive of handling fee).
