Adelaide Festival Centre announces vaccination mandates across its venues

Adelaide Festival Centre has announced vaccination mandates across its venues, including the Festival Theatre, Dunstan Playhouse and Her Majesty’s Theatre.

The Adelaide Festival Centre has announced that they are mandating vaccinations for individuals aged 16 and over from December 29 onwards. Audiences, artists, staff and suppliers will need to show proof of vaccination, with either their digital or printed COVID-19 certificate or hold a valid medical exemption to be granted entry in the Centre’s venues.

Venues under the Adelaide Festival Centre umbrella include Her Majesty’s Theatre, Dunstan Playhouse, Space Theatre, Artspace and the Festival Theatre. This includes all relevant foyers and function spaces as well.

In a statement released by the company today, the Adelaide Festival Centre said that the mandate is being implemented to keep their valued audiences, staff and suppliers safe as national and international border restrictions begin to ease.

The Adelaide Festival Centre is the latest venue to join the slate of major South Australian businesses bringing in a vaccination mandate to ensure the safety of their staff and patrons. Adelaide Oval, Zoos SA (Monarto Safari Park and Adelaide Zoo), and Adelaide Entertainment Centre are also amongst the line-up of businesses stating that individuals must show proof of vaccination to enter their venues.

As South Australia gears up for its beloved festival, the Adelaide Festival Centre is hoping to mitigate the imposed risk of infecting individuals with the virus by implementing the mandate.

After the arts sector has done it incredibly tough over the past two years, ensuring live events, performances and theatre can go ahead is pivotal to reigniting the industry.

Further, the Adelaide Festival Centre stated that while they know that the mandate will not be welcomed by some in the community, they hope it will not be required in the not so distant future.

At the time of writing, South Australia’s vaccination rates are inching closer to that crucial 90 per cent double vaccinated rate. A total of 80.8 per cent of the eligible South Australian population has received both doses, with 89.4 per cent having had their first dose.

Here’s the list of major South Australian venues that have implemented a vaccination mandate.
