If you’ve ever looked at your Fringe calendar and thought, I should see more shows, just maybe not on a Saturday night, this one’s for you.
AirAsia has signed on as a Festival Partner of the Adelaide Fringe Festival, backing the festival’s popular Midweek Treat tickets and giving Wednesday nights a serious glow-up.
Running throughout the upcoming festival, Midweek Treat offers discounted tickets on Wednesdays across a wide mix of Fringe performances, from comedy and cabaret to theatre, music and everything in between. It’s designed to reward the flexible, the curious and the budget-savvy, while helping artists fill seats on traditionally quieter nights.
This year, AirAsia is adding an extra incentive, inviting Midweek Treat ticket holders to “Fringe Today. Fly Tomorrow”. Anyone snapping up a Midweek Treat ticket can enter the draw to win one of two prizes worth $1,500 in AirAsia Points, redeemable on AirAsia flights. Cheap Fringe tickets and the chance to fund your next getaway is a combination that’s hard to ignore.
The partnership also reflects AirAsia’s growing footprint in South Australia. The airline now flies daily from Adelaide to Bali, opening up easier access to one of Australia’s favourite holiday destinations. From there, travellers can use AirAsia’s Fly-Thru service to connect to major destinations across the network, including Da Nang, Phuket, Bangkok and Singapore, without needing to collect baggage along the way. Travellers departing from Melbourne and Sydney via Kuala Lumpur can also connect onwards to destinations such as Istanbul, Cebu, Tashkent, Tokyo and Osaka.
Benyamin Ismail, General Manager AirAsia X, said the collaboration made sense on multiple levels.
“Adelaide Fringe is a celebration of creativity, diversity and community, values that strongly align with AirAsia’s brand,” Mr Ismail said. “Sponsoring the Midweek Treat tickets felt like a natural fit for AirAsia, offering high-value experiences at an accessible price point, which mirrors our mission to make travel more affordable and accessible for millions of travellers.
“The partnership also highlights AirAsia’s growing connection to South Australia. We recently announced daily flights to Bali, reinforcing Adelaide’s position as a significant, vibrant and cultural destination within the airline’s broader Australian network.”
Adelaide Fringe Acting CEO Tara MacLeod said Midweek Treat plays a crucial role in keeping the festival vibrant across the full week, not just weekends.
“Midweek Treat is about giving people a reason to say yes to a Wednesday night out,” Ms MacLeod said. “With artists choosing their own discount, it’s a practical way to fill houses midweek, build momentum into the weekend, and keep Fringe feeling accessible for audiences who are watching their budgets. Partnering with AirAsia adds a fun layer of possibility, because your Midweek Treat could genuinely turn into a getaway.”
Adelaide Fringe runs from 20 February to 22 March, delivering thousands of performances across the city and beyond. AirAsia Midweek
Treat tickets are available now for selected Wednesday shows throughout the festival.
