Adelaide Fringe Brings Two Major, Locally-Led Events To Kangaroo Island

The first event will take place on Saturday, March 21, with the second event happening on the October long weekend this year.

Adelaide Fringe, in partnership with the State Government, will be supporting two locally-led events on Kangaroo Island this year.

The first event, run by local Olivia Baker, is “Bush Festival” under the gum trees at Wittows Creek, Eleanor Downs Farm, on Saturday March 21st, and will feature a program including international artists brought straight from the Adelaide Fringe along with many local performers.

The second event “From the Heart”, run by local organisation Smart Future Creative, will happen on the October long weekend 2020.

The program will facilitate a powerful and moving connection to country with First Nations artists and performers from around South Australia and beyond.

A very exciting line up and program of events will be announced soon.

Premier Steven Marshall said the events would allow the Kangaroo Island community to take a break from the recovery process, and spend time with family and friends.

“It’s important that Kangaroo Island community have the opportunity to get together during the recovery and rebuilding phase.

“Having extra events take place on the island will be a huge boost for the local economy, as well as bringing people together,” he said.

Adelaide Fringe CEO and Director Heather Croall said, “Kangaroo Island has a special place in many of our hearts and we are pleased to be able to work with local islanders on these fabulous festive events for 2020.

“After a visit to the island in January, I wanted to ensure that any involvement from Adelaide Fringe events on Kangaroo Island was collaborative and considered the needs and wishes of the island community. I hope we will see lots of locals and visitors alike attending both these events,” Ms. Croall said.

After connecting with KI locals this initiative has been designed to support the plans and needs of the Kangaroo Island community.

Adelaide Fringe will waive all fees associated with ticket sales in these events and ensure 100% of the box office goes to the local producers behind the events.

Adelaide Fringe, in collaboration with the local event planners and artists, plan to establish these events sustainably to ensure longevity with repeat events in future years.

Tickets to both events will be sold at www.adelaidefringe.com.au with Bush Festival tickets already on sale now!
