2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the Adelaide Fringe Poster Competition, which has catapulted the careers of dozens of creators, artists and designers into the spotlight.

Participants are invited to craft a poster that encapsulates the essence of the Fringe and expresses what the Adelaide Fringe means to them, taking inspiration from the theme for 2024: ‘Arts Unlimited.’ This theme champions the idea that the arts are accessible to all, and the competition aims to embrace inclusivity.

Heather Croall, CEO and Director of Adelaide Fringe, emphasised the importance of promoting accessibility and inclusivity in the arts.

“We invite people to step into Fringe unedited. We strive to be as inclusive as possible. At Fringe, we want to make the arts accessible to all. We would love to see a poster that captures the spirit of Arts Unlimited.”

Adelaide Fringe welcomes submissions from professionals, beginners, and hobbyists alike. The selected poster design will become the face of the festival, representing Australia’s premier arts event for the entire season and securing a place in the annals of Adelaide Fringe history.

Previous winning designs have spanned various artistic styles, ranging from painted canvas artworks to vector designs and digital collages. These captivating designs have adorned outdoor signage, public transport, merchandise, shopping bags, and a wide range of festival collateral.

The artist whose design emerges as the winner of the 2024 competition will not only gain recognition but also receive a substantial prize of $6,000. Additionally, they will be granted free registration for an exhibition at Adelaide Fringe, providing further exposure for their work.

The winning design will also enjoy extensive media coverage, thrusting the artist into the spotlight.

The Adelaide Fringe 2024 season is scheduled to run from February 16 to March 17, showcasing an impressive array of artistic performances and events.

The competition runs until Sunday, August 13. To submit an entry or find out more information, click here.
