As the curtains officially close on this year’s Adelaide Fringe season, the overall 2024 awards recognised 47 outstanding shows, highlighting the exceptional talent and creativity that characterises the Adelaide Fringe.

Culminating weeks of anticipation and remarkable performances throughout South Australia, the final awards ceremony took place with grandeur on Sunday, 17 March, at the Dom Polski Centre.

Judged by a panel comprising esteemed arts industry leaders and enthusiasts, the Adelaide Fringe Awards aim to acknowledge and celebrate the most outstanding events within the festival’s program.

The awards honour a select group of artists and shows that have not only captivated audiences but also set new benchmarks for artistic excellence.

Distinguished for their significant reputational impact on the winning artists, the awards encompass substantial rewards such as large sums of money, mentoring, and touring opportunities.

This year’s Final Award Winners have showcased unparalleled creativity, innovation, and passion, winning the hearts of audiences and critics alike.

Fifty percent of the awards have been conferred upon South Australian artists, with six out of the 50 awards bestowed upon First Nations artists. Thirty-six percent of the shows were supported by the Adelaide Fringe Fund. Overall, the total prize pool awarded to artists across all categories amounts to $283,000.

Australia’s largest arts festival has yet again proven to be a resounding success in 2024, surpassing the million-ticket milestone achieved last year, with over 1,450 shows presented in this year’s program.

The event has attracted an estimated 55,000 interstate and international visitors, reaffirming its status as a significant contributor to South Australia’s economy.

“Adelaide Fringe is a beacon of artistic freedom and creativity, and this year’s award winners exemplify the spirit and diversity that our festival stands for,” CEO and Director of Adelaide Fringe, Heather Croall AM, says.

“Their remarkable talent and dedication have truly elevated the festival experience, offering audiences unforgettable moments of joy, reflection, and inspiration. Congratulations to all our winners. Your success is a testament to the vital role the arts play in our lives, and we’re proud to support and celebrate your achievements.”

Expressing gratitude to the partners who make Adelaide Fringe possible, Heather added, “A massive thank you to all of our Partners who make Adelaide Fringe possible, and to all of our Awards Partners who choose to support our artists directly through prizes and recognition.”

A special appreciation from the Adelaide Fringe was extended to all 2024 Awards Partners, as well as heartfelt congratulations to all of the Final Award Winners, participants, attendees, and supporters for making the 2024 festival a resounding success.
