Stand up shows like this are billed as massive events with huge line-ups full of big-name acts who are killing it on the global comedy scene. Comedy superstars who are playing to sold out audiences around the world…

It’s more accurate to say that the comedians on the line-up at these events SHOULD be selling out auditoriums across the globe, and perhaps they will soon, but at this point we’re seeing them after they’ve transitioned past the ‘up and comer’ phase of their careers a while ago, but aren’t quite superstars yet.

The idea being, you’ll see a comedian you haven’t seen before, split your sides at their set, then buy tickets to their solo show. That might sound like a tacky way to sell tickets, but it works, especially when you get the line-up right.

Nevertheless, elite comedian agents A-List Entertainment have signed these acts for a reason, and the reason is, they’re hilarious. These aren’t house-hold name comedians, but it’s probably just a matter of time.

Hosted by Aussie comedy Stalwart, Tahir, each of the four acts outshone the host. Don’t get me wrong, Tahir was great, but his colleagues on the night brought their A-game and proved their mettle as audience pleasing jokesters.

The line-up probably changes for each performance, and probably the same for the host too, but last night we were treated to performances from Daniel Muggleton, Danielle Walker, Ting Lim, and George Zacharopoulos. Each had their own unique brand of humour and none left the audience feeling like they had just witnessed second-rate comedy.

Zacharopoulos rounded the night out as the last act on the bill, and in an industry where you always save your A-material for last, this was the spot he deserved. With surprise being one of the most integral elements of comedy, Zacharopoulos delivered a set that ensured everyone in that audience would remember him.

If you’re out and about at The Fringe in this last week, and perhaps your other show finishes early, get yourself a ticket to Pick Of The Fringe – Comedy Superstars. I don’t know who you’ll see, but it’s a safe bet that you’ll laugh your arse off.
