A local gin brand has been recognised as a top competitor in the global gin market, taking out an illustrious award at an international gin event.
The South Australian ‘Adelaide Gin’ was judged ‘Best in Class’ in the London Dry category at the Gin Masters Asia Awards, beating out 40 other global entries to claim the title.
The competition involved a blind taste test, ensuring that each gin was judged solely on its flavour profile and overall quality.
Adelaide Gin Founder Michael Hickinbotham says he’s thrilled to be recognised as a standout product amongst the many other worthy competitors.
“Adelaide Gin has gone from strength to strength this year and I am incredibly proud to see that our gin is being recognised globally as a premium spirit, especially after only launching into the market a few months ago,” Michael says.
“We have achieved a lot in a short space of time and it is heartening, though not surprising, to see that the rest of the world loves the taste of Adelaide as much as we do.”
The SA gin also received a Gold medal in the award’s London Dry Category, adding to its collection of six other highly sought-after accolades since its March launch earlier this year.
Adelaide Gin was brought to life on Adelaide University’s Waite Campus, where Michael spent a year carefully crafting a recipe that perfectly captured all that is Adelaide.
The classic dry gin delivers juniper dry characteristics, and is overlaid with floral notes of lavender, rose and coriander. The complex spices are complimented by hints of lemon, which are enhanced by an essence of cardamom.
