Trees resizedWinter Planting Events are a great way to get the family active, away from TV and computer screens, spending some green time together.  Join the Million Trees Program and grow a great future for Adelaide at one of their weekend conservation events with others from your local community.

SA Urban Forests – Million Trees Program of Events:

17 July – Gawler Buffer
Join the local community in establishing seedlings to create a Mallee Box (Eucalyptus porosa) Woodland for future recreational use.

Date: Saturday 17th July 2010
Time: 10am – 1pm (approx)
Place: Smith Road, Evanston South (enter from Main North Road). **Please note change of entrance to site**
Notes: Please bring sun/rain protection, gloves for planting, sturdy footwear, snacks and water. No toilets on site.

31st July – Craigburn Farm
Contribute to the restoration of Grey Box (Eucalyptus microcarpa) Woodland, currently a threatened ecosystem, by joining local residents in restoring local native plants to the Sturt River catchment.

Date: Saturday 31st July
Time: 10am – 1pm (approx)
Place: End of Bonython Way, Craigburn Farm.
Notes: Please bring sun/rain protection, gloves for planting, sturdy footwear, snacks and water. Toilets are available. A BBQ will also be provided.

7th August – Onkaparinga River National Park
Volunteer to help recreate the threatened Grey Box (Eucalyptus microcarpa) woodland community which was once prominent across the area.

Date: Saturday 7th August
Time: 10am – 3pm (approx)
Place: Gate 22 off the Sundew Track (Chapel Hill Road, Blewitt Springs).
Notes: Please bring sun/rain protection, gloves for planting, sturdy footwear, snacks and water.

National Tree Day :  1st August  – Tainmundilla
Help in returning local native plants to Tainmundilla Park along the River Torrens in the Adelaide Parklands (between Hackney Rd and Frome Rd) to improve the health of the river and the habitat along this important biodiversity corridor.

Date: Sunday 1st August
Time: 11am – 1pm (numbers of plants are limited so arrive near 11am to avoid disappointment)
Place: Tainmundilla Park, River Torrens, Adelaide Park Lands, War Memorial Drive, North Adelaide (between Hackney & Frome Road bridges).
Notes: Please bring sun/rain protection, gloves for planting, sturdy footwear, snacks and water. A BBQ and entertainment will be provided.
RSVP: At the site on National Tree Day. Large groups please contact Adelaide City Council on 8203 7203 prior to the event.

National Tree Day:  1st August  – Pedler Creek National Tree Day
Join the community in improving the biodiversity of Pedler Creek by planting 500 indigenous seedlings. The seedlings will beautify the existing pathway and attract local birds and butterflies to the area.

Date: Sunday 1st August
Time: 10am – 1pm
Place: Pedler Creek Reserve, Grand Blvd, Seaford Rise, enter from Dalkeith Road
Notes: Please bring sturdy footwear, sun and rain protection, gloves for planting, snacks and water.
