Cherie Falco, Salon Manager of Hallet Cove’s CHI Hair Skin Body has been announced as South Australian finalist, and one of five finalists Australia-wide, in 2014 Global.Synergy – a unique Australian hairdressing industry competition.
Global.Synergy offers one lucky young Australian hairdresser the chance to WIN A TRIP TO LONDON for the hairdressing experience of a lifetime- working backstage at the Alternative Hair Show in London on Sunday 12th October 2014 – the global hairdressing event of the year!
The creation of hairdressing industry guru and 2014 AHFAs Australian Hairdresser of the Year, Emiliano Vitale, in association with é SALON, the Australian Hairdressing Council (AHC) and AHC Youthworx, Global.Synergy called for young hairdressers with 1-6 years experience, who dream big, are motivated and believe they can contribute to the global hairdressing community – and were salon or individual members of the AHC – to enter.
The entry was a 2-minute video, outlining why the entrant wanted to win, a brief bio, portfolio & collection imagery, reasons why the entrant believed they should be chosen and how they would share the experience with their peers.

Hair creativity, inspiration, and innovation hit Cherie from researching hair magazines, the internet, social media outlets and competition work. This leads to her challenging herself in her own creative realm with dreams to become a session stylist for catwalk, runway, photo shoots and editorial work. With hair styling and business management two passions, Cherie is determined to grow her career and business whilst continuing on her journey to achieve her dreams and goals.

According to Sandy Chong, CEO of the AHC, “the Australian Hairdressing Council is proud to support the Global.Synergy initiative with Emiliano Vitale, giving a young stylist the chance to work with him at the Alternative Hair Show in London – the recipient winning this unique opportunity will also experience and see the absolute best of hairdressing on the world stage at Salon International in October – what an amazing prize.”
Cherie and the four other finalists, will gather in Sydney on Saturday 30th August to be mentored by industry luminaries Emiliano, Sandy, Dario Cotroneo, Matt Clements, Benni Tognini, and Dennis Langford and a selection of ‘Junior’ mentors including Lisa Muscat, Jordan Hone, Jules Tognini, Jamie Furlan and Ali Holmes on Sunday 31st August and Monday 1st September.
Indisputably, the most inspiring and anticipated highlight for the weekend will be working on a photo shoot with international superstar, Robert Lobetta on the Monday.
The Mentors will observe the Finalists over the weekend and the winner will be announced on Monday 1st September once the photo shoot has wrapped.
“It was so fantastic to see the sheer passion and obvious love for what they do in all the finalists’ video entries,” says Emiliano Vitale. “To have the ability to dream and the courage to put that on show and share it with us was so inspiring and a reminder that our next generation of hairdresser knows there’s so many more opportunities out there other than just working in the salon!”
