An Adelaide Hills Cabernet Sauvignon has triumphed at renowned international wine awards in Vienna.

Amadio Wines’ Reserve Range Sebastien’s Cabernet Sauvignon has been awarded ‘best in the world,’ taking out first place in the Cabernet Sauvignon category at the AWC Vienna 2024.

The AWC Vienna 2024 is an international wine challenge and is officially recognised as the largest wine competition in the world.

Just shy of 11,000 wines from 1,400 producers all over the world are judged anonymously in a blind tasting by an international jury and are rated according to the international 100-point scheme.

To receive a gold medal a wine must be awarded 90 points or more, a silver medal requires 87 to 89.9 points and a seal of approval requires 84 to 86.9 points. Amadio Wines’ 2021 Reserve Range Sebastien’s Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded 92.5 points and first place in its category.

Additionally, both the Single Vineyard Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and the Reserve Range Sebastien’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 were honoured with gold medals.

“We are overjoyed and humbled to receive these incredible Honours,” said Danniel Amadio, Managing Director at Amadio Wines.

“Every bottle we create is a labour of love, a reflection of our commitment to quality and our deep connection to the land. These awards are a celebration of our team’s hard work and the support of our loyal customers who inspire us every day.”

Amadio Wines had five more wines receive awards. The Single Vineyard Series Pinot Grigio 2024, Single Vineyard Series Pinot Noir 2023, Single Vineyard Series Shiraz 2021 and Heritage Selection Sagrantino 2018 were celebrated with silver medals, and the Ruby’s Range Moscato 2022 received a Seal of Approval.

“At Amadio Wines, we believe that wine is more than just a drink; It’s an experience, a memory, a connection. Each sip tells a story, and we are grateful to share ours with you. As we look to the future, we remain steadfast in our mission to craft wines that not only delight the palate but also stir the heart,” shares Danniel.
