Who are they?
Applewood Distillery is South Australia’s hub and encouragement of Craft Gin. Not many know they make much more than our signature Applewood Gin. They also have a range of clients including: Prohibition Liquor, Barossa Distilling, Ounce Gin, Glen Ewin Estate Fig Gin, Brocken Spectre. Outside of Gin they also make Cello’s, Amaro’s and starting to dabble in whisky.

They love Australia, so much so that they totally embrace the land they come from and use native and indigenous botanicals and ingredients as they constantly work to re-discover the insane flavours of
this sunburnt country. Whether that be in our gin, amaros or within our Limited Editions. They want you and the world to experience these unique and exotic botanicals!

Unico Zelo is Inspired by an intense passion for the land, our wines are crafted to showcase unique sites and soils that Australia has to offer – in styles that are typified by the lifestyle and culture of the land they belong to – from highly sustainable varieties that require minimal intervention. Following their passions for Italian-inspired, textural and site-expressive wines, they seek to create Australian examples of Mediterranean varieties in an approachable and jovial fashion. They believe that these are the appropriate varieties for our country and what they should be known for.

They also support our local community with the Harvest Wine Grower’s Co-op – Australia’s only operating wine growers co-op brand. What is this? It is a profit sharing initiative to support
grower’s of the Northern Adelaide Hills – half the profits from this brand are given directly to the grower’s involved – giving them a fair price for some of the best vinous produce the Hills can offer.

They acknowledge the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Leon Bignell for the assistance in developing their Cellar Door thanks to receiving a grant from the South Australian Wine Industry Development Scheme Cellar Door Grants Program. This assistance has enabled them to create a space to attract tourism to the northern Adelaide Hills.

Ochre Nation is located at 24 Victoria Street, Gumeracha SA.
Open Wednesday – Saturday, 11am – 4pm (bookings advised).
