An Adelaide Hills winery’s Pinot Noir has taken out the title for Best Red Wine in Show at this year’s International Cool Climate Wine Show, one of the event’s top awards.

Vinteloper’s 2023 Pinot Noir has taken out the title for Best Red Wine in Show at this year’s International Cool Climate Wine Show, one of the event’s top awards.

It was part of a hat-trick of awards for the winery with their 2024 Pinot Gris winning top gold in Class 8, and their 2022 Chardonnay also winning top gold in Class 11.

The team took to social media to share the win, saying: “These MEGA results are a testament to the dedication of our team and the unique quality of the Adelaide Hills”.

The awards are an outstanding achievement for Vinteloper after facing a few challenges over the past year, with much of the property damaged in the 2019 bushfires. Their commitment to delivering a landmark tourist destination has never wavered and they have planted over 2000 native plants throughout the vineyard to help reintroduce rare species. The new cellar door, due to open later in September, is promises to be a tribute to the winery’s story of overcoming adversity.

The top award went to fellow Adelaide Hills winery Sidewood Estate who picked up the trophy for Best Wine in Show with their 2023 Mappinga Chardonnay 2023, which won Best White Wine. Their 2021 Tyre Fitter Syrah also won gold in the class 31 category.

There were plenty more awards for fellow South Aussies. Wines by Geoff Hardy won Gold in Class 28 with their 2021 K1 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot and Berrigan Wines collected a Gold for their 2022 “Shining Rock” Shiraz in Class 30.

Brothers at War’s 2022 The Old Man Syrah won Gold in Class 30 and Riddoch Connawarra Wines won top Gold for their 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon in Class 24.
