Adelaide hotel wins big at National Hotel Awards just a year after grand reopening

Just a year after its major renovation, Adelaide’s Hotel Alba has been named Best Redeveloped Hotel at the National Hotel Awards, highlighting its blend of luxury and innovative design right in the heart of the city.

Hotel Alba has clinched the prestigious title of Best Redeveloped Hotel – Accommodation at the Australian Hotel Association Awards, held recently in Brisbane. The National awards saw all the state winners come together to battle for the top spot in their respective categories. Witnessed by more than 700 VIPs and industry stalwarts, this win highlights Hotel Alba’s premier status in the Australian accommodation scene just a year after its grand reopening.

Located on South Terrace, Hotel Alba initially rose in popularity following a comprehensive two-year renovation. This redevelopment was not only about refreshing the building but revitalising the entire South Terrace precinct. The hotel, originally constructed in the 1960s, is noted for its distinct and conservation-worthy architecture.

Hotel Alba’s transformation was not merely cosmetic but aimed to reinvigorate the southern end of the city, giving guests easy access to the lush parklands that frame the area.

Samantha Farrington, General Manager of Hotel Alba said, “Being awarded Best Redeveloped Hotel at the National Australian Hotels Association Awards is a proud milestone that highlights the incredible outcomes achievable when passionate, like-minded individuals unite with a shared vision. This project was more than a redevelopment; it was a transformative journey, reimagining the space into an urban lifestyle oasis in the heart of Adelaide. It has been a privilege to contribute to this remarkable endeavour and witness the vision come to life.”

The hotel features an alluring Mediterranean-style outdoor pool area, cited as one of its unique drawcards. This space offers a resort-like escape in the heart of Adelaide, allowing guests to immerse themselves in a tranquil setting while enjoying the convenience of city life. It was recently the centrepiece for a key Adelaide Fashion Week event, showcasing the space beautifully.

In addition to its luxurious amenities, Hotel Alba features ela, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant helmed by executive chef Nigel Rich and head chef Ashleigh Lindner. Ela prioritises local South Australian produce and offers a mix of shared plates and individual dining options, catering to a variety of dining experiences from breakfast through to dinner and light poolside snacks. “ela has a vast menu that is perfect for any dining occasion. The menu is inspired by various areas throughout the Mediterranean region, whilst also highlighting some of South Australia’s finest produce,” says Rich and Lindner.

Starting from just $209 per night, Hotel Alba promises quality accommodation that won’t break the bank. Despite its affordable price point, each of Hotel Alba’s 99 guest rooms offer private balconies with either park side or city views overlooking the pool, stylish furniture and premium amenities, coffee pod machine and tea selection, Smart TV, working desk, WIFI, curated mini bar offering. The hotel is part of a larger precinct that also includes The Terrace Hotel and HotelMOTEL, with all establishments managed by EVT Hotels & Resorts.

Hotel Alba’s recent national recognition is sure to attract both new visitors and returning guests eager to experience its celebrated offerings.

With its ideal blend of stylish accommodation, elevated dining, and a prized location, Hotel Alba is set to continue making waves in Adelaide’s hospitality scene, proving it’s more than just a place to stay; it’s a destination in itself.
