South Australian commercial cookery and hospitality training provider Adelaide Institute of Hospitality (AIOH) has announced renowned chef Emma McCaskill as its VET in Schools Business Development Consultant.

The high-profile appointment will see Emma utilise her expertise in supporting South Australian students identify employment outcomes in the hospitality sector.

AIOH Manager Ben Sharp said that the appointment was a major coup for the organisation and an enormous opportunity for AIOH to forge stronger links between local hospitality venues, schools, families and the Institute across South Australia.

“Attracting someone of Emma’s calibre to such a crucial role is exciting. Emma’s industry and education networks are second to none, and we believe that these networks and Emma’s mentorship of students will bridge the gap that exists between training and our kitchens,” Ben said.

Emma McCaskill is one of Australia’s most celebrated chefs having forged a hugely successful international career at restaurants including Narisawa (Tokyo), Sat Bains (Nottingham), Tetsuya’s (Sydney), Ezard (Melbourne), Penfolds Magill Estate (Adelaide), The Pot by Emma McCaskill (Adelaide) and Sparkke at the Whitmore (Adelaide).

In addition to her new role with AIOH, Emma is also leading a new family program as part of Tasting Australia 2021. The popular food festival will also see Emma team with Tasting Australia food curator Darren Robertson and the legendary Maggie Beer for an exclusive event in Coffin Bay.

Emma said that the AIOH role is a wonderful opportunity to be able to share her passion and knowledge of cookery with young people at school.

“There is no greater joy for me than mentoring the hospitality stars of the future. I want to help students identify the opportunity between training and working as a chef in an industry setting,” Emma said.

‘“There is such importance in this work as the current imprint on these young people will have an impact on our dining landscape”.

AIOH is South Australia’s premiere hospitality training provider with a vision to train the chefs of tomorrow. The Institute has been successfully delivering VET in schools for 15 years with over 150 students undertaking courses each year.
