Ah La Sing, an Adelaide institution for karaoke and post-dinner dancing alike.
La Sing eradicates generational divide, attracting forty-somethings and twenty-somethings alike with its siren call of pineapple cruisers, chicken wings, and the prospect of belting out ‘Mamma Mia’ on stage.
As you read this, likely reminiscing about the last time you made that special stage your own with a rendition of your favourite karaoke song (… Livin’ On a Prayer?), La Sing is undergoing a transformation.
Given the government COVID-19 restrictions around the hospitality industry, La Sing temporarily closed its doors some time ago.
During one of the bar’s final nights, owner Ung Chin made an announcement to a group of loyal attendees, stating, “we’ll be back, bigger and better than ever.”
It would seem Chin is fulfilling that promise, with a dedicated team having worked during this period of closure to make some subtle changes to the bar’s aesthetic.
According to the La Sing team, devoted fans need not fear, with the “vibe” of the much-loved venue still ringing true.
La Sing is expected to reopen towards the end of June, or the beginning of July, depending on government restrictions.
So, in the meantime, stay tuned to La Sing’s Facebook page here and start thinking about which song you’ll be belting out upon your triumphant return.
You can find La Sing at 261 Gouger Street.
