Adelaide Leaves Its Mark On Fashion Week

Despite Australia’s biggest fashion festival, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, wrapping up last week, Adelaide is still a buzz with the parade photos, party stories and insider tales as our fashion designers, bloggers, stylists and models all head back to SA.

Recent years have reinforced Adelaide’s strong position in the Australian fashion industry, as newcomers and pioneers alike continue to make a name for our state, both here and abroad.

Locally we are blessed with an abundance of up-and-coming labels and designers including Paolo Sebastian, Couture + Love + Madness, Cameo and Penny-Anne, so it was exciting to see the face behind the Paolo Sebastian label make his mark in Sydney this year.

After having his designs grace the 2012 Logies red carpet, worn by stars Kylie Gillies and Gold Logie nomine Ada Nicodemou, designer Paul Vasileff turned heads at the Sydney Fashion Palette SS12/13 in the lead up to MBFWA.

Adelaide models are also no stranger to the lime-light and continue to score top gigs here, interstate and overseas, with MBFWA also showcasing their home-grown beauty.

Finesse Models Zoey Vink, Vanessa Milde and Melissa Johannsen collectively walked for Lisa Maree, Aurelio Costarella, Ksubi, Dylan Cooper, Johanna Johnston, Talulah, By Johnny, Sara Phillips, Oroton, Bec & Bridge, We Are Handsome, Jenny Kee And Nana Judy.

Some of Adelaide’s most stylish bloggers and trend setters were also amongst the Fashion Week crowd.

Fashion Squared co-host Dani Morris was making waves at MBFWA, being picked up by stylehunter.com for her religious wearing of new and vintage Sass & Bide throughout the week, claiming her looks was one of their “favourites on a day to day basis”.

The Fashion Squared team were getting up close and personal with fashion’s elite including Dylan Cooper from Project Runway Australia, and going behind the scenes with the guys from Nana Judy.

They even had some time for happy snaps with Lara Bingle, the Today Show’s Lisa Wilkinson and Christian Lo Russo of rock band Amy Meredith.

Ex-Adelaidian blogger Phoebe Sheahan also made her face known at a number of MBFWA events, blogging her experiences on her site Diaries of Bella.
