Aniello has seen incredible support from clients, strangers and fellow makeup artists after a horrific incident of assault last year.

Aniello entered the makeup industry at age seventeen, and is the proud owner of ‘Beauty Experience by Aniello’ on Magill Road.

From a young age Aniello was surrounded by makeup, either at dance concerts or at home. This sparked a strong interest in hair and makeup, which kickstarted Aniello’s flourishing career and business.

Since entering the industry Aniello has experienced ongoing bullying and harassment for his career choice.

As a student at a catholic all-boys school, he was often criticised for not participating in sport like his peers, instead applying makeup to clients.

As Aniello’s business became well known, the verbal and physical bullying increased, and in July last year it reached an unbearable level when he was coward-punched on a night out.

Before Aniello was physically assaulted he could hear remarks being made by a group of males about his business, insinuating that he is working in a “female profession” and that Aniello was a “joke to society”.

Despite this horrific ordeal, Aniello is stronger and busier than ever after calling bullies to account for their actions.

Aniello took to his Instagram stories saying “enough is enough”, he was sick of being ridiculed for his career and passion in hair and makeup. Aniello said that he “prompted himself [to speak out] and be a voice for people who are experiencing a similar thing”.

These stories were widely spread across social media in support of Aniello, by fellow makeup artists, clients, friends, family and even strangers. The support did not stop there. Strangers have become new clients and regulars have shown their love for Aniello by increasing their bookings. Aniello thinks of clients as “family… [he] wouldn’t be able to do what [he] loves without them”.

Due to the bullying Aniello has faced, his eyes have been opened to the importance of “providing a supportive safe haven”, where people getting hair or makeup done can get things off their chest with no judgment.

The biggest message Aniello wants people to take from this is that there is “support out there for people, never be afraid, and always know that no matter what the situation, bullying is NEVER okay”.

“I am truly blessed everyday to work with so many amazing people who love and support what I do,” Aniello said.
