Adelaide Metro announce free travel for Friday 13 October

Friday’s offer of free travel is in response to a pricing glitch, which saw commuters charged higher fares.

Kick off your travels around the city this Friday for free! In a gesture of goodwill and to rectify a recent glitch, travel on all Adelaide Metro buses, trains, and trams will be entirely complimentary on Friday October 13th, 2023. This means if you’re planning to take public transport, there’s no need to tap on or buy a ticket – just hop on board and enjoy the journey.

Recently, Adelaide Metro faced a technical hiccup which led to some passengers being charged peak fares during what were supposed to be off-peak hours. Adelaide Metro responded quickly, issuing a statement apologising for any inconvenience caused by the oversight. Fortunately, this issue has been addressed and rectified. Moreover, to ensure that such incidents do not recur, a software update has been developed and implemented.

Should you suspect that you were among those impacted by the incorrect fare charges, Adelaide Metro encourages you to get in touch. Reach out to the Adelaide Metro InfoLine at 1300 311 108, available from 7am to 8pm daily, to discuss potential reimbursement options.

In addition to the free transport, there’s another piece of good news for those planning to use the Tea Tree Plaza Park ‘n’ Ride facility: car parking will be available for $2 throughout Friday.

But why should one head into the city this particular Friday, you ask? Apart from the lure of free transportation, Adelaide has an eclectic mix of events lined up, which promise to cater to a wide range of tastes and interests.

Film enthusiasts can relish the midnight screening of the cult classic, “Rocky Horror Picture Show” at the renowned Capri Theatre. For those who take their coffee seriously, the grand opening of Poppi’s Coffee at Garden Goodness in Port Adelaide is a must-visit. Racing enthusiasts shouldn’t miss the Zagame Adelaide Supercar Open Night, which promises an evening of high-octane excitement.

Music lovers are in for a treat too, with the talented Jon Stevens scheduled to perform at the Hopgood Theatre. And if an evening of thrilling performances is what you’re after, The Great Moscow Circus at Bonython Park guarantees to leave you spellbound.

For families, the Pixar Putt in front of the Adelaide Convention Centre offers an engaging experience. And as it’s Friday the 13th, brace yourself for some unpredictable, delightful mayhem throughout the city.
