Adelaide Metro will be providing FREE public transport this New Year’s Eve for safe travel ahead of the New Year, so you can leave the car at home.
Thousands of people are expected to flock to New Year’s Eve events in and around the city, along with other popular locations like Glenelg – to welcome 2023.
All regular Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services will be free from 5pm Saturday, December 31 through to and until first service Sunday, January 1, 2023.
This will include free travel for cricket fans attending the Adelaide Strikers match against the Melbourne Stars at Adelaide Oval. Additional bus, train and tram services will run before and after the game.
“With more than 30,000 people expected at the Big Bash match at Adelaide Oval and thousands more expected to join in festivities across the CBD, Adelaide Metro is a great option for travelling to and from your celebrations,” said Tom Koutsantonis, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Minister.
Due to New Year’s Eve celebrations at North Adelaide, Glenelg and in the CBD, some service disruptions to buses and trams are expected, including stop closures and bus detours.
Passengers are reminded that prior to New Year’s Eve services commencing, a normal Saturday timetable will operate on December 31.
Check your timetable in real time and plan your trip with Adelaide Metro’s journey planner.
