Adelaide’s Moon Lantern Festival will be taking place today, Wednesday 22nd September 2010, on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month of the Chinese calendar. This free, family-friendly event has become one of Adelaide’s favourite annual community gatherings. It is a time for family and friends to come together and eat moon cake, celebrate the splendour of the full moon, and remember loved ones. Local Asian community groups will perform traditional and contemporary music and dance.
Other festivities include a diverse selection of Asian food and market stalls, lanterns, arts and craft, various workshops, horoscope readings and much more. At twilight, the Moon Lantern Parade will light up Elder Park followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
