The AusMumprenur Awards, presented by The AusMumpreneur Network celebrate and recognise Australian mothers achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service, and digital innovation. The awards are designed to credit the growing number of women who successfully balance and motherhood in a way that suits their life and family.
After eight years of managing lucrative properties for an Australian business tycoon, 42-year-old Adelaide mother, Natasha Morgan, launched her own start-up “My Home Watch“: Australian’s first home watching business.
“Paired with my experience,I began envisioning this business after reluctantly asking my mum if she would look after our house while we were away,” Natasha says, “It wasn’t at all convenient, as she lived 40 minutes away.We didn’t want to get a house sitter, having a stranger stay in our home just wasn’t an appealing solution, and none of our friends could help as they already had their own homes to care for. I realised no other options existed, so my business was born!”
There are many benefits to balancing business and motherhood. Natasha explains, “Knowing that you’re not only doing something for yourself, but for your family is such an amazing feeling! Being a Mumpreneur and my own boss means the world to me, I never have to miss out on anything. I can be with my toddler at home when he’s sick, take him to swimming lessons, and enjoy the kindy drop offs and finding out how his day was.”
It can be challenging to be a successful business woman whilst raising a family. Natasha gives this advice for others thinking about starting their own enterprise: “Really spend time researching the industry or business you wish to start, see who your competition is, and how you’re going to be different. If youre offering a solution to a huge market…you’re well on your way to a successful business”
The winners of the 2017 AusMumpreneur Awards will be announced at a glamorous Awards dinner at Doltone House in Sydney on Friday 25th August.
