Adelaide local, Kate Taylor, has spent the past 25 years providing essential maternal care in Cambodia through her charity The 2H Project, but now she’s extending her humanitarian work globally with the launch of a new initiative called EveryMum. This organisation is committed to making sure all mothers, regardless of their geographical location, have access to vital healthcare during pregnancy and childbirth.
After seeing firsthand the severe disparities in maternal care during her own challenging childbirth experience, Kate was driven to make an impact. This personal mission led her to Cambodia, where the differences in maternal healthcare encouraged her desire to contribute even more.
EveryMum is designed to transcend borders, across regions in Africa, the Pacific Islands, and Sri Lanka. The initiative involves training midwives and healthcare workers to provide life-saving care, advocating for maternal health, and building partnerships that support resilient health systems.

“Cambodia will always be part of our story. But EveryMum is a global initiative. We have the connections and support to take our work to Africa, the Pacific Islands, Sri Lanka, and beyond,” says Kate.
Kate’s efforts have led to significant achievements already. EveryMum annually supports 410,000 mothers with improved healthcare services, facilitates over 12,000 safe childbirths, and makes for zero maternal deaths in targeted areas. More than 5,000 healthcare professionals receive training each year, improving their capacity to save lives.
“We want to be everywhere we’re needed. Our programs, training materials, and relationship-based approach are ready to go across the world. While we may have changed our name, the core of our work remains the same. Our training is transferable across cultures and countries.”
EveryMum not only impacts the mothers and babies directly involved but also includes Australian medical professionals, including midwives, doctors, anaesthetists, sonographers, and theatre nurses. These professionals work closely with local health staff in a collaborative, supportive environment that promotes the exchange of knowledge and skills.

“Because we’re grassroots, we can guarantee that every dollar we receive is translated into real, on-the-ground impact. We have a strong connection with our supporters–we take volunteer teams to Cambodia to see the projects firsthand, so they can be intimately involved.
“We rely on people who generously donate their skills, expertise, and time–from sonographers to obstetricians to midwives. It’s all about building strong, lasting professional partnerships.”
People interested in supporting EveryMum’s mission can contribute through donations or volunteer work.
