Adelaide North Transforms Into An Entertainment Hub For Mad March

A true master of his craft, Gold Logie winning comedian, Tom Gleeson, is set to have the crowd in stitches, when he headlines the festival at the Shedley Theatre.

As Mad-March rolls into town, the City of Playford has set out to make the festival season cheaper and easier for its locals by bringing entertainment right to their doorsteps with the return of the Playford Palace Festival.

The highly anticipated event will see the Playford Civic Centre in Elizabeth be transformed into a royal court of entertainment with stage performances in comedy, music, magic, dance and film.

City of Playford Mayor, Glenn Docherty, said the jam-packed week of entertainment offers something for everyone and at an affordable price.

“Accessibility at all our events and festivals is paramount. We want to ensure our community has access to the same services, and in this instance entertainment, as they would otherwise find in the CBD.

“We offer free and low-cost entertainment the whole family can enjoy at the Playford Palace Festival,” said Mayor Docherty.

The Aussie stand-up comedian is at the top of his game and has performed at every major comedy festival in the world, whilst also being nominated for Best Comedy Performer at the Helpmann Awards three times.

“Each year we have welcomed a new comedian to the Playford Palace Festival, it has become a valued tradition by our community.

“We are extremely excited to see Tom Gleeson sit on the Shedley Theatre throne this year. No doubt he and the community will play hard, but have plenty of fun at his show,” said Mayor Docherty.

Audiences can take a trip down memory lane, as talented musician, Anthony Marafioti, brings living legend Billy Joel to life when he teams up with John Karter in the Billy Joel & Paul McCartney Tribute Show on Friday the 6th of March.

Families are set to be spellbound the, Magic Mike’s Children Show, which will bring colour, sparkle, mystery and a touch of comedy to the stage on Saturday the 7th of March for just $5 per ticket.

The Shedley Theatre’s Seniors on Screen program will showcase films direct from the A-List film festival circuit, with Spanish film Campeones (Champions) screening during the festival thanks to the Playford’s partnership with Mercury Cinema.

The City of Playford will bring the fun and colour of Spain to the theatre, with live flamenco music, paella and sangria available to enjoy alongside the film for just $20 on Thursday the 5th of March.

Local talent will be front and centre with the much loved, Silver Beats Rock Choir and Grenville Variety Show taking to the stage.

Festival goers can avoid traffic chaos and hefty parking fees, with the City of Playford providing an easy and convenient free parking lot right across from the Shedley Theatre.

The Shedley Theatre is perfectly positioned in the heart of the Northern CBD on Playford Boulevard.
