Adelaide Now Has a Bat Trail You Can Walk Along And Spot Bats

This Spring, adventure out and learn more about our furry, flying friends on Adelaide’s new Bat Trail.

If you’ve ever walked to the Adelaide Zoo, through the parklands, at dusk, you may have seen the large numbers of bats that circle above. I know about them after attending many Moonlight Cinemas, where I was quite distracted by their silhouettes above me, when I was meant to be watching the movie in front… Well now you can truly appreciate our little flying friends, with the launch of Adelaide’s new Bat Trail.

The Bat Trail will lead you on a journey, along the banks of the River Torrens/Karrawirra Park, adjacent Botanic Park, and will help you find some of Adelaide’s tiniest residents.

Walk the Bat Trail and look for the 25 orange bat tags hanging from trees along the banks of the River, to learn more about the Grey-headed Flying-fox.

See if you can find them all 🏷️

A free booklet will be available for download on the City of Adelaide website from the beginning of October. More details to come!

Visit anytime between October and mid-December.
