Adelaide Oval embraces AFL

More than 29,000 fans watched Port Adelaide avoid its first wooden spoon and farewell retiring ruckman Dean Brogan in style with an eight point win over Melbourne in the first AFL game at Adelaide Oval today.

Port Power coach Matthew Primus said the Adelaide Oval experience was one his players had thoroughly enjoyed.

“It was terrific. It is a very intimate stadium, so the crowd certainly feels like they are in the game, and the players feel that too,” he said.
