The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) and Cricket Australia have announced a major new agreement that secures Adelaide Oval as the venue for the final Test Match before Christmas every year from 2025 to the 2030/31 season. This deal also covers the Ashes series set for the 2025/26 summer.
Under this agreement, cricket fans can look forward to a consistent and exciting cricket schedule. Adelaide Oval will feature a mix of day and day/night matches over the next seven years. The first of these matches will follow this year’s Day/Night Test against India and the Women’s Ashes.
“This is a fantastic outcome for our members and all cricket fans who turned up in such extraordinary numbers for this year’s Test Match,” SACA President William Rayner said.
“The Adelaide Test is already a highlight of the global cricket calendar, and today’s announcement will only enhance its appeal.”
Mr Rayner also recognised the support from the South Australian Government, which has been instrumental in reinforcing Adelaide Oval’s status as a premier cricket venue.
The deal also includes other cricket events, such as men’s and women’s international limited-overs matches and the Adelaide Strikers’ popular New Year’s Eve Big Bash League game.
To support this long-term commitment, SACA is investing in upgrades to Adelaide Oval. Planned improvements include expanding the Village Green, reintroducing Fashions on the Green, creating exclusive member areas in the Riverbank Stand, and enhancing food and beverage options.
This new partnership between SACA and Cricket Australia will not only see a fantastic lineup of cricket events at Adelaide Oval, but also strengthens the venue’s role in benefiting the local community. Fans can look forward to many exciting cricket seasons ahead in Adelaide!
