Adelaide Oval Turns Green(er) For St Patrick’s Day

The Adelaide Irish Club brings the city’s biggest St Patrick’s Day celebration back to Adelaide oval this year!

The Irish had the right idea when they made St Patrick’s Day official — drinking the day away is something we can get behind.

And it’s something we’ll be doing when the Adelaide Irish Club brings the city’s biggest St Patrick’s Day celebration back to Adelaide oval this year!

This all-ages event takes place from 11am till late on Sunday, 17 March on Adelaide Oval’s Telstra Plaza.

“We welcome all friends and families to come along and enjoy a day of fun, including a great mix of traditional food, drinks, music and dance,” said Irish Australian Association Chairperson, Kevin Neeson.

Live entertainment will be on show from an incredible line up of local talent featuring a range of cultural and contemporary musicians and dance groups.

There will be live music performed by a number of bands including the Adelaide Irish Pipe Band, Shambolics and Paul O’Donnell & Gallowglass, and dancing by Rinceóirí Tolan, the Adelaide Academy of Irish Dance, Robert’s Academy of Irish Dance and many more.

“The event is now more like a community festival, with opportunities for patrons to learn an Irish Jig, try an Irish instrument, play Gaelic Football, plus be in with a chance to win some amazing prizes,” said festivities co-ordinator, Geraldine O’Reilly.

“There are additional children’s activities this year as well including face painting and a bouncy castle so the whole family will be happy.”

What better way to end the weekend than with shamrocks and shenanigans? Head on over to Adelaide Oval’s Telstra Plaza this Sunday to end the weekend with a bang!

You can also check out the event on Facebook (once Facebook gets its act together) for more info. Until then, head on over here for more details!
