Australia’s love for pilates is only getting stronger, with online searches for pilates up by a whopping 49.5% over the last five years. Known for its low-intensity, full-body workouts, pilates is a favourite for Aussies looking to improve their flexibility, posture, and muscle strength – all without straining the body. Its rise in popularity can be partly attributed to social media, where reformer pilates has taken the fitness world by storm.

A recent study from Lifespan Fitness has revealed which cities are home to Australia’s biggest pilates fanatics and Adelaide has earned a top spot, ranked as the third most pilates-obsessed city in the country.

Lifespan Fitness’s study looked at a range of factors, such as the number of pilates and yoga studios, average studio ratings, and pilates bed sales across cities to create an “obsession score.”

Adelaide came in strong with a score of 33.27, thanks to its huge selection of top-rated pilates studios and a growing demand for pilates equipment. In fact, SA accounted for 8.22% of all pilates bed sales in the last 12 months – a clear sign that the state’s obsession with pilates is on the rise.

If you’re looking to jump on the pilates bandwagon and become as obsessed as the rest of Adelaide, we’ve rounded up some of the top pilates studios for you to check out (and there are even more across the state)!
