Adelaide seafood specialists to host two incredible degustations for the Secrets Tour of Spice

You’ll enjoy 5 incredible courses, beautiful seafood, and matched wines at the upcoming degustation events in Henley Beach and Norwood.

Prepare your taste buds for an extraordinary culinary experience this August with the Secrets Tour of Spice at Henley Beach and Norwood. Hosted in conjunction with the renowned Pikes Clare Valley, these exclusive events featured five specially prepared courses, paired perfectly with Pikes’ finest wines. The events will be held on August 7th and August 21st, 2024, respectively, each kicking off at 7pm, and best of all, it’s only $99 per person.

The first degustation is being held at Secrets by the Sea in Henley Beach, overlooking the water, with a sunset thrown in for free. You’ll start the evening with a first course that sets the tone for the evening – Grilled Coffin Bay oysters topped with chorizo butter. It’s matched flawlessly with Pikes Traditional Riesling. The wine’s crisp acidity and fresh lime and citrus notes enhance the oysters’ rich and savoury profile, creating a seamless and lengthy finish.

Next, the second course features tender grilled calamari served with a Thai-style dressing. This dish, with its subtle kick, is paired with Pikes Luccio Pinot Grigio. The light and fresh wine, with hints of apple skins and melon, finishes pleasingly dry with just a hint of minerality, perfectly complementing the calamari’s flavors.

For the third course, guests will savour spiced barramundi oven-baked with Secrets herbs and spices, accompanied by lime butter and green beans. This course is paired with Pikes Luccio Fiano, a medium-bodied wine showcasing melon, stone fruit, and tropical flavours. The Fiano’s softness and textural quality balance the fruit characters and acidity beautifully.

The fourth course presents a Scotch fillet steak served medium with roasted winter vegetables and a zesty salsa verde. This robust dish is matched with Pikes The Assemblage Shiraz Mourvèdre Grenache. The medium-bodied wine, with vibrant notes of blueberry, mulberry, and pink peppercorn, has slippery fine-grained tannins and subtle char notes from old oak, enhancing the steak’s hearty flavours.

To conclude the evening, the fifth course offers a house-made lemon curd tart with fresh berry compost and cream. This dessert is perfectly paired with Pikes First Cut Riesling. The brilliant light honey gold wine, with notes of lime cordial and jasmine florals, ends the meal on a high note with its ginger spice and fresh honey mouthfeel, finishing refreshingly bright.

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL!

It all happens again, this time just outside of the city, on the Parade in Norwood. Secrets by the Parade just opened, and are welcoming in guests for the second degustation of the month.

The Norwood event promises the same exquisite menu and wine pairings, ensuring guests at both locations experience the pinnacle of fine dining. From the Grilled Coffin Bay oysters to the house-made lemon curd tart, each course is crafted to delight and impress.

Guests at both events can expect a journey through carefully curated flavours and textures, with the wines chosen by the winemaker complementing each dish, providing a cohesive and refined dining experience.
