The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is bringing a special-one-night-only concert to Gawler on Saturday September 14th. The exclusive event will be held at the new Marnkutyi Parirna Theatre which has recently opened at Trinity College, starting at 7:00pm.
The 75-minute performance will showcase the elegance of Beethoven’s Romance No. 2 in F Major and the beauty of Barber’s Adagio for Strings, among other works. The concert will be directed by the talented violinist Elizabeth Layton, described as “one of the most outstanding performers of her generation,” and hosted by the award-winning jazz violinist and composer, Julian Ferraretto.
Julian Ferraretto is known for his gifted jazz violin performances and extensive international experience. Since moving to London in 2002, he has collaborated with leading jazz and world music artists, including the Neil Cowley Trio and Natacha Atlas’s Mazeeka Ensemble. Now based in Australia, he continues to make contributions to the music world through performance, composition, and education.
While Elizabeth Layton, a leading violinist, has an accomplished career as a performer and director. Formerly the concertmaster of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Associate Leader of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Layton has performed with famous orchestras and at festivals worldwide. Her recent projects include performances at the Adelaide Festival and recording chamber music with flautist Sally Walker.
Tickets for the event are priced at $49 for adults and $29 for concession holders, students, and children. They are available for purchase through the ASO website at www.aso.com.au.
